Chestnut Fields - Allotment Sessions

FREE, for all ages

Join us at our allotment sessions and get green-fingered whilst creating a great community space.

Chestnuts Farm Allotment, adjacent to the Feel Good Centre car park. Our plot is at the entrance so you'll find us easily once you arrive or have your toddler bang on the gate and someone will come and find you!

What to expect

Weekly allotment sessions to help grow plants, care for wildlife and build a community network!

Join us, rain or shine, to enjoy a nature-based morning at our allotment. Expect an informal session of inspecting what we've grown, harvesting, watering, sowing seeds, planting out, muck spreading (everyone's favourite!) and earthy arts and crafts. Bring a healthy snack to share and something for the soup pot or salad bowl, depending on the weather. Sturdy footwear recommended as there are hazards such as nettles, uneven ground and toddlers with spades and rakes!

This is a more casual set up than some of our other sessions as we generally just muck in with whatever needs doing on the plot, though we do run seasonal activities too.

Friday sessions tend to be attended by pre-school children and toddlers, whereas the weekend session has a more mixed range of ages. All are very welcome and we find that everyone finds something they enjoy doing, whether it's rolling up their sleeves and mucking in, playing with other kids or peacefully swinging in the hammock.
